Question:

As a heart patient, am I more at risk for getting COVID?

Answer:
by Alex Postalian, MD

Your risk for becoming infected does not appear to be greater because you have a heart condition. However, if you do become infected, your risk for developing severe disease is higher, as the virus that causes COVID is more likely to cause severe complications in patients with compromised respiratory or cardiovascular systems.
