Texas Heart Institute’s (THI) commitment to education sets it apart from other major cardiovascular centers. The Institute’s educational activities include postdoctoral and allied training programs, seminars, symposia, grand rounds, scientific publications and public education outreach. Visitors will find the Wallace D. Wilson Museum with educational displays, historic items covering scientific breakthroughs in treating heart disease, and the Celebration of Hearts art collection.
Texas Heart Institute offers a collection of live activities as part of its commitment to furthering the education of physicians and other medical professionals on cardiovascular health and patient care. The Institute’s offerings include: THI Cardiology Grand Rounds (CME credits and Live Webcasting available), The James T. Willerson, M.D. Cardiovascular Sciences Seminar Series, THI Cardiology Education Conferences and other special educational events.

Texas Heart Institute was the first to have an accredited School of Perfusion Technology in the United States. The program, which began in 1976, offers a post-baccalaureate certificate in perfusion technology through its 18-month course. New classes begin every six months in January and July.
The Texas Heart Institute Journal is a peer-reviewed journal published bimonthly by the Texas Heart Institute as part of its medical education program. The purpose of the Texas Heart Institute Journal is to educate, with emphasis on the dissemination of information to physicians in practice.
The Texas Heart Institute Cardiac Society was founded in 1989 to provide an avenue for exchange of ideas relating to the clinical and research activities among the present and former THI cardiology fellows, trainees, and teaching staff of the Texas Heart Institute.
