Diabetes is a major risk factor for heart disease—in fact, two-thirds of people with diabetes die of some form of heart or blood vessel disease.  Over 50% of diabetes is preventable — and 80% of heart disease is preventableTexas Heart Institute is proud to unite with organizations and communities around the globe on November 14 for World Diabetes Day (WDD) to elevate awareness for the growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes. Created by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization in 1991, today, WDD is an official United Nations DayEvery year, the World Diabetes Day campaign has a central theme— this year, protecting families is the focus.  


In recognition of World Diabetes Day, Texas Heart Institute welcomes A/Prof Anne L. Abbot, MD, PhD for a Special Grand Rounds in the Denton A. Cooley Auditorium on Thursday, November 14, at noon. Livestreaming is available.
