unction.%20Next%20we%20tested%20our%20hypothesis%20in%20vivo%20by%20transverse%20aortic%20constriction%20in%20mice.%20Using%20a%20micro-PET%20system%2C%20we%20observed%20enhanced%20glucose%20tracer%20analog%20uptake%20and%20contractile%20dysfunction%20preceding%20dilatation%20of%20the%20left%20ventricle.%20In%20contrast%2C%20in%20hearts%20overexpressing%20SERCA2a%2C%20ER%20stress%20was%20reduced%20and%20contractile%20function%20was%20preserved%20with%20hypertrophy.%20Finally%2C%20we%20examined%20failing%20human%20hearts%20and%20found%20that%20mechanical%20unloading%20decreased%20G6P%20levels%20and%20ER%20stress%20markers.%5CnCONCLUSIONS%3A%20We%20propose%20that%20glucose%20metabolic%20changes%20precede%20and%20regulate%20functional%20%28and%20possibly%20also%20structural%29%20remodeling%20of%20the%20heart.%20We%20implicate%20a%20critical%20role%20for%20G6P%20in%20load-induced%20mTOR%20activation%20and%20ER%20stress.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%22May%2017%2C%202013%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22eng%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1161%5C%2FJAHA.113.004796%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%222047-9980%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22SE7HDD49%22%2C%229DBYXNEE%22%2C%22SJDHBZF7%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222023-03-07T21%3A51%3A00Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
