Ourania Preventza, MD, MBA, FACS, is chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia and co-director of the Heart and Vascular Service Line at UVA Health in Charlottesville, Virginia. Show full bio

She was previously an Attending Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Baylor St Luke’s Medical Center and Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Preventza’s clinical interests include structural heart disease, transcatheter valve therapy, aortic valve repair, aortic surgery open and hybrid techniques, endovascular stent grafting. Her research focuses on the development of percutaneous techniques for valvular and thoracic aortic diseases, aortic root surgery and surgical outcomes.
