Jaqueline Ferrufino

Jackie graduated from local Houston high school, St. John's School, in 2019. She attended St. Edward's University-- Honors College (Austin, TX) during her freshman year of Undergraduate University. She has since transferred to Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH) to continue pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry while on a Pre-Med track. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in Pediatrics and Texas Heart has been a crucial part of her exposure to the medical field. Show full bio

During her time in Austin, Jackie became a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), two nationally recognized medical and professional organizations. While in Cleveland, Jackie plans to continue her memberships with the ACS and AMSA while working on ways to introduce public health education to the local neighborhood/ community near campus. Recently, she was elected as Community Chair on the Executive board of Minority Association of Premedical Students (MAPS) at CWRU responsible for organizing volunteering, service opportunities, and fundraising. Jackie has also been selected as a recipient of the Undergraduate Pediatric Mentorship Program and Scholarship Opportunity hosted by Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. This program was designed for students underrepresented in medicine who show an interest in Pediatrics looking to apply to medical school the following year. The scholarship opportunity which accompanies this mentorship program, upon completion, will be used toward funding medical school application costs.

Jackie has maintained her relationship with Texas Heart Institute working in the Women’s Center department since high school! She currently works closely alongside Dr. Karla Campos and Dr. Stephanie Coulter in populating databases, working on Straight Talk publications, and working on research reports. During the time of COVID, she has also helped the Visual Communications Team put on virtual symposiums conferences to be broadcasted and streamed on various sites.
