%20patients%20who%20underwent%20cryoplasty%20for%20peripheral%20artery%20disease%20from%20January%202004%20through%20November%202006.%20We%20calculated%20rates%20of%20freedom%20from%20amputation%2C%20freedom%20from%20intervention%2C%20and%20freedom%20from%20death%20and%20examined%20the%20data%20using%20the%20Kaplan-Meier%20method.%20Paired%20t%20tests%20were%20used%20to%20compare%20the%20ankle-brachial%20indices%20before%20and%20after%20cryoplasty.%20The%20study%20population%20comprised%2099%20patients%20who%20received%20treatment%20for%20132%20atherosclerotic%20lesions%2C%20including%2062%20lesions%20in%20the%20superficial%20femoral%20artery%2C%2028%20in%20the%20popliteal%20artery%2C%20and%2025%20in%20arteries%20below%20the%20knee%3B%2071%20patients%20completed%20follow-up%20%2864%20%5Cu00b1%2057%20wk%29.%20Short-term%20periprocedural%20success%20was%20achieved%20in%2098.5%25%20of%20the%20interventions.%20Dissections%20occurred%20in%2012.2%25%20of%20patients%20treated%20successfully%20without%20bail-out%20stenting%20or%20additional%20balloon%20inflations.%20At%206%20months%2C%20more%20than%2088%25%20of%20the%20patients%20were%20alive%20and%20had%20not%20had%20an%20amputation.%20However%2C%20reintervention%20was%20required%20for%2042%25%20of%20patients.%20Mean%20ankle-brachial%20indices%20improved%20significantly%20after%20treatment%20%28P%20%26lt%3B%200.0001%29.%20Our%20results%20show%20that%20cryoplasty%20for%20treatment%20of%20peripheral%20artery%20disease%20is%20safe%20and%20has%20a%20high%20rate%20of%20periprocedural%20success.%20However%2C%20long-term%20efficacy%20is%20compromised%20because%20of%20the%20frequent%20need%20for%20reintervention.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222011%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22eng%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%22%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%221526-6702%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%223WHLRQCH%22%2C%22WCSBRJST%22%2C%22Z2XX7DHR%22%2C%22YQ6XGPLC%22%2C%22M5BIXWLJ%22%2C%222K4N54U2%22%2C%228PULYTSK%22%2C%22N5IZ899Z%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222022-03-08T19%3A33%3A25Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
