Houston Chronicle Features Dr. James Martin’s Congenital Heart Disease Research
Congenital heart disease (CHD) – a spectrum of heart defects that develop before birth – can lead to pediatric heart failure. Research teams at Texas Heart Institute, Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Children’s Hospital collaboratively analyzed heart and blood cells from patients with congenital heart disease to gain new insights into the disease’s underlying causes. These innovative gene expression studies should enable further discoveries and help guide the development of new therapies for patients with congenital heart disease.
