Question:

Is there a relationship between myocardial bridges and sudden cardiac arrest?

I recently have had two heart catheterizations. The first one, I had a stent placed in the right coronary artery. Chest pain and HBP continued and another heart cath was done. A myocardial bridge was diagnosed with the second. How aggressively should I seek treatment? Both my parents died from sudden cardiac arrest and I would like to know if I should have further screening.

It’s unusual for myocardial bridges to cause problems, but if there is ongoing angina-like chest pain, it may be advisable to perform some sort of physiologic assessment such as a nuclear stress test.
