Texas Heart Institute Honors Summit 2019

Texas Heart Institute Honors Summit and Igor F. Palacios, MD Distinguished Lectureship in Cardiology covers the history and future of cardiac surgery, the most current strategies in advanced heart failure, different approaches to peripheral interventions, the debate between medical management and coronary intervention, the cost-effectiveness of novel atherosclerotic therapy, and the optimal management of adult congenital heart disease.

Target Audience

The audience for this continuing medical education activity symposium will target an audience of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, and trainees to cover a broad range of topics including cardiac surgery, peripheral interventions, coronary heart disease management, advanced heart failure, and congenital heart disease.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this symposium, participants should be able to:

  • Utilize teaching points towards improved mitral valve and measurement assessments via non-invasive imagining
  • Utilize teaching points to formulate optimal treatment plans for patients with mitral valve disease
  • Improve knowledge and utilization of knowledge to formulate treatment approach for functional vs nonfunctional MR
  • Improve number of cardiologists towards using TEE imaging guidance over ICE for intra procedural cardiology
  • Enhance consideration of hybrid approach towards revascularization for improved patient results and recovery

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Texas Heart Institute, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Heart Institute Cardiac Society. Texas Heart Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
