Our dear friend, Terri Dome, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma at 13-years-old. After a year and a half of chemotherapy and radiation, her cancer went into remission. At 28 years old she started fainting and it was discovered that the chemo and radiation had damaged her heart and lungs. After years of pacemakers, Terri underwent a heart transplant on February 14, 2009.
With approval from her cardiologists, Terri found new joy in pilates at Washington Avenue Pilates studio until July 1, 2014. To honor her, they decided to start Pilates has Heart and the first event was held on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2016. Those who knew and loved Terri came together for a mat class and in a true grass roots way raised over $3,000 for the Texas Heart Institute.
On Sunday, February 18, 2018 Pilates has Heart will hold its third annual mat class at Silver Street Studios. This year, the goal is to reach $12,000 and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Texas Heart Institute in honor of Terri Dome. We will also partner with the Cycle Bar Sawyer Heights.
Register for this year’s Ride for the Cause and take a mat class with Terri’s extended family!
