3rd Symposium on Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine Welcomes Leaders from Around the World

The Texas Heart Institute and the European Society for Cardiology Working Group for Cardiovascular Regenerative and Reparative Medicine hosted their 3rd Symposium on Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine to advance the field of cardiovascular regenerative medicine through scholarly debates, discussion and the establishment of a new platform of understanding from which to move the field forward.

Experts from 31 cities and 10 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Slovenia, the Netherlands, India, Andaman and Nicobar, France, Denmark, and Belgium traveled to Houston to participate in the symposium.

Unlike areas with recognized, evidence-based knowledge, clinical stem cell therapy is a nascent field in which most of the competence and performance issues are unestablished. We need knowledge and application of that understanding to establish successful strategies in clinical regenerative medicine.

“In the context of the current landscape of the field of clinical regenerative medicine, investigators need to share new findings and discuss and debate the state of the field to direct further development and build the framework for clinical implementation. Our meeting provided an essential forum for these activities,” according to Dr. Emerson C. Perin, Medical Director of The Texas Heart Institute and course director of the symposium.

The two-day symposium included advanced lectures, dynamic case presentations, a live lab presentation from leaders in each field, and the opportunity for attendees to interact with leaders in an intimate meeting format. The faculty continued the fellowship and celebration in the inspiring Weiss Energy Hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
