A Global Exchange in Cardiovascular Innovation: Ukrainian Delegation Visits The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine

The Texas Heart Institute was honored to host a delegation from the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, led by Dr. Borys Todurov, CEO. During their visit, Dr. Todurov shared an insightful overview of the extraordinary challenges of delivering cardiovascular care amid an active war, as well as the remarkable advancements Ukraine continues to make in heart health.
The six-member delegation, along with representatives from Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital, toured the Institute with Dr. Joseph G. Rogers, Director of The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine, who guided them through the critical care unit and research laboratories. The tour highlighted THI’s latest innovations, including groundbreaking research and the BiVACOR Total Artificial Heart, recently implanted for the first time in a human patient.
This visit was a powerful exchange of knowledge and solidarity among leaders in cardiovascular medicine working under vastly different, yet equally vital, conditions.
