Texas Heart Medical Group Celebrates Career of Rebecca Hazzard

On April 8, the Texas Heart Medical Group honored Rebecca (Becky) Hazzard by celebrating her recent retirement from the practice.  As a cardiac sonographer, first with Leachman Cardiology Associates and then with the Texas Heart Medical Group, Hazzard has provided 31 years of dedicated service to cardiovascular patients.

Throughout her decades with the practice, Hazzard has supported the group’s mission in numerous ways.  She is a registered Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer – this specialty training has allowed her to contribute to the care of the practice’s adult patients with congenital heart defects.  Hazzard has also served as the practice’s Radiation Safety Officer.  Furthermore, she was instrumental in helping the practice achieve and maintain its echocardiography accreditation.

Hazzard’s service to Leachman Cardiology and the Texas Heart Medical Group has extended well beyond her tangible contributions to patient care, safety, and accreditation.  Mentorship and teaching are extremely important to her, and she has generously shared her expertise with new colleagues and students whenever possible.  She is known for her commitment, compassion, and joy. Hazzard’s longtime colleague, D. Richard Leachman, MD, shared, “Becky’s professionalism and commitment to excellence embody the core values of the Texas Heart Medical Group.”  Eduardo Hernandez, MD, President of the Texas Heart Medical Group, stated, “Becky’s dedication to patient care and esprit de corps were instrumental in the development of an outstanding imaging program at THMG.”
