Andres Mesa, MD

Dr. Mesa is an internationally recognized physician who has dedicated his efforts to educate other medical professionals in the latest developments pertaining the cardiovascular field of medicine. He is a past president of The Texas Heart Institute Society and he has delivered more than a hundred invited lectures including the US, Mexico, Central and South America, China, Indonesia and the Philippines. Dr. Andrés Mesa has been a practicing cardiologist since 2000 and is a member of The Texas Heart Institute’s Professional Staff. He has served as Director of the Cardiovascular & Vein Institute since 2014. Dr. Mesa completed his medical training in Bogota, Colombia, where he graduated magna cum laude from Escuela Colombiana de Medicina. Then he continued his training with an Internal Medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, which is affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MOSubsequently he completed a Non-Invasive Cardiology Fellowship and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, where he currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine.

Dr Mesa is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, and the American Society of Echography. He is a Diplomate in Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography, and is a registered Physician Vascular Interpreter. He specializes in coronary and peripheral arterial disease —as well as venous disease— focusing on both medical and interventional management.
