Question:

With episodes of my heart racing, can I safely undergo anesthesia?

When I wake up at night (often with an arm under my body) my heart is racing. As soon as I move, the rate becomes normal. Should I be worried; can I safely be under anesthesia for a colonoscopy at 75?

It is difficult to answer the question without first knowing a little bit more about your general health and heart condition.  If you are in overall good condition, then this may be nothing to worry about.  A 24 hour holter can also help by identifying the rhythm during heart racing.
