The Ali Massumi Cardiac Arrhythmia Symposium 2023

February 18, 2023 | Hybrid + Panel Discussions

We will discuss rhythm control therapy in atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure, choosing the proper antimicrobial therapy and management of infected cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), new recommendations and appropriate guidelines for use of devices in patients with heart failure, and other related topics.

Course Director: Mohammad Saeed, MD

Overview

The symposium will raise awareness and educate healthcare professionals about emerging methods and new developments in treating patients with heart arrhythmias.

It has been designed for: Cardiologists, cardiologists with an interest in electrophysiology, cardiac electrophysiologists, internists with an interest in cardiology, cardiology fellows, Baylor St. Luke’s Cath lab technicians; family and general practitioners.

CME Information

Overview

The Ali Massumi Cardiac Arrhythmia Symposium is designed to provide electrophysiologists, cardiologists, internists, and associated professionals with state-of-the-art information on the fundamental mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias and the best practice approaches to clinical diagnosis, evaluation, and management of abnormal heart rhythms.

The symposium will raise awareness and educate healthcare professionals about emerging methods and new developments in treating patients with heart arrhythmias.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this symposium, participants should be able to –

  • Start rhythm control therapy in AF management in HF at the proper time.
  • Understand the impact of Catheter ablation Versus Medical Therapy on QOL in HF
  • Learn bleeding risk assessment in AF patients
  • Learn to manage specific conditions with challenging treatment decision-making
  • Learn to stroke risk assessment in AF patients
  • Choose the proper antimicrobial therapy
  • Learn about the duration of antimicrobial therapy
  • Appropriate recommendations for New CIED Implantation After Removal of an Infected CIED
  • Become familiar with new techniques and devices in AF ablation
  • Understanding Clinical Indications of using different long-term cardiac monitoring
  • Learn potential benefits of His bundle and left bundle branch area pacing compared to biventricular pacing
  • Understand the appropriate patient selection with risk-benefit assessment for TV-ICD or SQ-ICD implantation
  • Appropriate use of new devices in patients with HF

Target Audience

The symposium has been designed for: Cardiologists, cardiologists with an interest in electrophysiology, cardiac electrophysiologists, internists with an interest in cardiology, cardiology fellows, Baylor St. Luke’s Cath lab technicians; family and general practitioners.
