Dr. P. Alex Smith is an engineer developing a minimally invasive partial support LVAD at THI. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2012 and 2013, respectively. During his Master's, he co-founded a medical device startup focused on the development of a hemodialysis access port; this entrepreneurial venture led him to THI for advice. In 2014, he began working on rotary blood pumps at THI before starting his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at University of Houston, which he completed in December of 2017.See Publications
