CME Information - Overview

This ethics presentation provides an overview of discussing care planning, decision-making, and death with patients with advanced heart disease. 

Educational Objectives
The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge. At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to-

  • Discuss approaches to communication about care planning and decision-making with patients who have advanced heart disease.
  • Discuss communication techniques for talking with patients who are dying and with patients' family members.

Target Audience
The intended audience for this continuing medical education activity includes cardiologists, internists, nurses and other healthcare professionals who work with heart disease patients.

Method of Instruction / Participation
This online enduring material comprises slide sets with text and audio derived from a live presentation with post activity assessment and evaluation.
