January 28: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Learning Lab Showcase
The Texas Heart Institute embraces the opportunity to inspire future
leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)—fields that
the world needs today more than ever—and will join The Spring Branch
Independent School District (SBISD) on Saturday, January 28 for their
STEM Learning Lab Showcase. Two of the Texas Heart Institute’s research
scientists, Dr. Deen Bakthavatsalam and Dr. Shaolie Hossain, will join a
community of learners for this exciting and educational day of
exploration and discovery!
STEM graduates will tackle many of the world’s most complex
challenges—developing smart, sustainable technologies, including finding
new ways to take care of the health of our growing global population. By
2018, there could be 2.4 million unfilled STEM jobs in the U.S. alone
and by helping more students launch STEM careers, SBISD is making major
strides in solving the STEM job gap...
Lab will feature a range of interactive and fun experiences for all age
and interest levels. From industry keynote speakers to hands-on
experiments in micro-lab settings, to instructional share-outs by STEM
educators, there is something for everyone. The event is open to Elementary,
Middle and High School Teachers and Students, Parents, District
Administration, and Community Members (open to the general public).
Are you naturally inquisitive? Does how something works interest you? Do you like to build or create new things? Are you looking for inspiration and ideas on how to engage your child in the areas of Science, Engineering, Math and Technology? Are you an educator that likes to share and learn with your peers? If so, we hope you'll join us at the Learning Lab!
