February Events - February is American Heart Month!
February 1: "Love Your Heart" at Lone Star College Montgomery
WomenHeart Houston ambassador Esmerelda Miranda will be a special guest at Lone Star College Montgomery's Student Nurses Organization meeting to kick of American Heart Month. Esmerelda will share her story and spread awareness about the importance of heart health. The meeting will be held from 3:30-4:30 PM.February 3: Go Red Day with the Texas Heart Institute and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center
Celebrate National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about women and heart disease. Join THI and the Baylor St. Luke's Medical center team on the Skybridge at the hospital from 10 am to 2 pm. We will have a photo booth and several informational tables sharing important heart health information and updates. And don't forget to encourage everyone in your community to wear red on February 3, 2017!
February 3: Dr. Stephanie Coulter presents “Go Red Today and Every Day for Life”
In observance of American Heart Month, and in celebration of National Wear Red Day, Dr. Stephanie Coulter will discuss new developments in preventing, diagnosing and treating the number one killer of men and women alike — heart & vascular disease. Dr. Coulter is the Director of THI’s Center for Women’s Heart & Vascular Health, where she is pioneering research to make a significant impact on prevention and treatment for women. February 4: Elnita McClain Women's Center's Annual Go Red Luncheon and Fashion Show
Every year THI supports the Elnita McClain Women’s Center at their annual Go Red Luncheon and Fashion Show. Additional details about this year's event are coming soon!
February 7: WomenHeart Houston Special Guest Speaker at Memorial Athletic Club
Anne Bunting, a WomenHeart Houston Community Ambassador, will be a special guest speaker at a lunchtime event at Memorial Athletic Club. The event will be open to members and non-members, and held from 12 to 1 pm. Anne will share her story and talk about the importance of heart health.
February 9: Celebration of Innovation at Texas Heart Institute
Join us for this rare opportunity and insider’s look at Houston’s unique approach to solving the problems that really matter. THI's Director of Regenerative Medicine Research, Dr. Doris Taylor, will
be the keynote speaker and the event will conclude with a tour of THI's
facilities. This collaborative program presented by Texas Heart Institute, Houston Technology Center, and Center for Houston’s Future will spotlight some of the most remarkable medical innovations in our city’s history. February 11: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Pink Goes Red!
Join us for this event where THI’s Women’s Center WomenHeart Ambassadors, Sabina Varela and Esmeralda Miranda, share their stories. The event will be held from 10 am to 2 pm at the 5th Ward Multi-Service Center located at 4041 Market Street, Houston, TX 77020.
February 12: Pilates Has Heart Mat Class
On Sunday, February 12, 2017 Pilates Has Heart will hold its second annual mat class at Silver Street Studios. This year, the goal is to reach $15,000 and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Texas Heart Institute in honor of Terri Dome.

February 18: Texas Heart Institute Welcomes the Girl Scouts
Join us for this third annual event where THI will host girl scouts in celebration of American Heart Month! Attendees will tour THI’s facilities and gain knowledge on the importance of staying fit for their heart health during the event. Additionally, they will be earning requirements for their Staying Fit badge (Junior Girl Scouts) or their Best Self badge (Brownie Girl Scouts). While the girls are having fun with games and activities, the adults will be able to learn the Project Heart curriculum that they can later implement.

February 21: WomenHeart Houston Support Group Meeting with Special Guest Dr. Emerson Perin
WomenHeart Houston is a support group providing peer-to-peer patient support and education for women living with heart disease. This kind of support is crucial to a woman’s recovery and well being, and that of her family. Dr. Emerson Perin is the Director of THI's Stem Cell Center and is leading the way in innovative adult stem cell therapy research. February 22: Dr. Stephanie Coulter presents “Matters of the Heart and Mind”
Dr. Stephanie Coulter will discuss the importance of heart and vascular health while providing updates on new developments to prevent and treat heart disease. Dr. Coulter is the Director of THI’s Center for Women’s Heart & Vascular Health,
where she is pioneering research to make a significant impact on
prevention and treatment for women. The presentation will be hosted at
