Question:
Is it normal to have a little high blood pressure, since I had repair of Tetralogy of Fallot in the past?
Was operated at the age of 19 years in your hospital by Dr. Cooley in February 1976 for Tetralogy of Fallot. The operation succeeded perfectly because since then I never had any problems. Now every time I visit a cardiologist, he tells me that my blood pressure is a little high. I say once that a periodic inspection found it to be 130/90. Is it normal that I have this pressure? For the rest is okay. Thank you in advance and good work to all.

Hi Gaetano. It sounds like you are doing great! Congratulations. A blood pressure of 130/90 is pretty normal for a 52 year-old. Although some might consider that reading as demonstrating "borderline hypertension", it is no cause for concern. If moderate exercise, weight control, and avoiding salty foods don't keep it from getting higher, perhaps a blood pressure pill may someday be necessary but for now, keep enjoying your good health!.
