Question:

Is there any correlation between degree/progression of mitral regurgitation and type of prolapse?

Like with anterior, posterior, or bileaflet. Is it true anterior prolapse is more uncommon?

The mitral leaflets are each roughly divided into 3 segments. Clinically significant mitral valve prolapse most commonly involved the middle posterior leaflet segment (P2). Any or all of the other segments may be involved. There is little information available correlating site of prolapse with rate of regurgitation severity progression.
