Question:

Are transcatheter repairs of mitral or tricuspid valves being done?

Are you doing any transcatheter mitral or tricuspid valve repairs? Other than diuretics, are there any interventional procedures for a surgical high risk patient that might prolong or improve quality of life for a patient with CHF with mitral and tricuspid regurgitation? Thanks.

At present, transcatheter tricuspid repairs are off label and require the hospital to get a variance from the medical service.  Mitral repairs are being done with the Abbott Mitra clip in many hospitals.  There is not a simple answer to your question regarding CHF.  The etiology of the CHF, blood pressure, medications, age of the patient and anatomy of the heart and blood vessels are all taken into account when developing a treatment regimen.
