What screening should my son have? A murmur was discovered today during his athletic physical exam.

Hello, my son is 14 and had his athletic screening physical today. They noted a murmur which is new for him. His blood pressure is borderline high. He's in excellent condition otherwise, so I'm concerned. He is 6', 220lbs. From what he tells me they did do an EKG. It's unclear to me if it was a 12 lead. Please contact me with any information that might be helpful to have him screened further. Thank you.

A young athlete with a heart murmur needs a visit with a cardiologist. Probably, an echocardiogram is needed to certify him for sports.
