What tests might I need regarding my sinus arrhythmia?

Hi, I am a 58 year old female, and when I had a routine EKG for a colonoscopy I was told I have a sinus arrhythmia. I am not concerned about it especially, but I'm wondering what types of tests I may need in order to insure my overall heart health. Thanks in advance.

by Texas Heart Institute cardiologist, Abdi Rasekh, MD

Abdi Rasekh, MDThe Sinus arrhythmia is a benign minor variation of normal heart rhythm. There are no further tests needed for evaluation of sinus arrhythmia, itself.  Any further cardiac evaluation depends on your symptoms, your family history, and your risks factors. An echocardiogram, a stress test or other tests may be appropriate, depending on one's clinical presentation.
