Question:
What are the criteria for being accepted for stem cell therapy in the heart?
submitted by Lillian from Los Angeles, California on 1/31/2013
Answer:
by Texas Heart Institute cardiologist, James T. Willerson, MD
Presently, admission would be according to the Admission Criteria for a specific Clinical Trial. Most of the current trials are in patients with heart failure, recent heart attack, refractory angina, peripheral vascular disease and recent stroke. Contact the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute (NHLBI) to learn about expertise and trials in your geographic area. Visit the website at www.nhlbi.nih.gov/studies/
Thank you.
