Is smoking marijuana dangerous for someone who has a pacemaker?

Is smoking marijuana dangerous for someone with a pacemaker? I have a 20 year old brother who was implanted with a pacemaker two years ago due to his dangerously low heart beat and I am concerned because he smokes marijuana almost daily. Any information you have on this topic would be much appreciated, I am very concerned about him. Thank you.

Jaime Benrey, MDThe only cardiac effect of marijuana would not affect the function of the pacemaker.  I suggest drug rehab as a way to manage the problem.
