Question:
Is it normal for me to have right sided chest pain once a month, especially after running?
I'm 26 years old female patient and my question is the following: If I have chest pain on the right side of my chest once a month- is that a normal thing? I previously told my PCP about it and she advised me to take ibuprofen and don't get too stressed out.... but then when I go running and wake up the following day, the right chest area hurts and it feels like it wants to pop out. I also screened on those blood pressure machine and it says that I may be susceptible to hypertension.

Hi Angie,
Chest pain in a young female patient is very common but very infrequently related to a significant heart problem. Your symptoms are not likely to be heart related. There are many things that can cause chest pain, and very frequently we cannot figure out why someone has pain. As for your blood pressure, you should discuss that with your PCP, but it's not likely to be related to your chest pain.
