"This year, the annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology was held in San Francisco from March 9-11. 'Discovery to delivery to improve cardiovascular health' was the promotional tagline with which ACC greeted all the participants. This three-day international conference was a true intellectual feast, featuring cutting-edge science presentations, practice management seminars, networking opportunities, hands-on learning instructions and much more."  

"The Texas Heart Institute conducted an excellent symposium on the 'Future Direction of Stem Cells' in cardiovascular disease. Stem cells, the mother cells that have the potential to become any type of cell in the body, will play a major role in the future of medicine." 

The 1/2 day Future Direction of Stem Cells program was organized and presented by the Office of Continuing Medical Education at the Texas Heart Institute (THI) at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. Program Director was Dr. James T. Willerson, president and medical director of THI.
