Dear Friend of the Texas Heart Institute,
What do you get when you put the heart of a 7-foot-tall man into the body of a 5-foot, 5-inch man?

The answer in one case is a very talented, Olympic-caliber runner named Leo Manzano, who recently won the national trials and is representing the U.S. Olympic Team in the 1,500-meter race in London this summer.
What a teammate he is to have – on and off the track. Leo Manzano runs with great heart, in more ways than one.
That is why the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital is pleased to announce a partnership with Leo as a THI Ambassador for heart health. He will help us keep a spotlight on health and fitness and prevention strategies that don't require one to be an Olympic athlete. And we will be cheering him on through the exciting Olympic Games and well beyond.
Leo left for Europe a few days ago to prepare for the Olympics, and just before he boarded the plane in Austin where he lives, he gave me a call to express his excitement about this new relationship.
Imagine that. He was on his way to represent his country on the world's biggest stage in a high-stakes competition, and he paused to tell us how passionately he cares about his heart-health mission with us.
That is exactly the kind of teammate we need in the race to combat the devastating toll of cardiovascular disease on men, women and children worldwide.
To find out more about this amazing athlete and get updates on our partnership, visit Olympian Leo Manzano in our Heart Information Center.
Please join us as we follow Leo Manzano and cheer him on to the finish line in London, and beyond.
With great respect and pride,
