Dr. Cooley Delivers Keynote Lecture
News of Note (December 12, 2008)—Dr. Denton A. Cooley delivered the Lari A. Attai Endowed Lecture in New York City at Montefiore Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine. A capacity crowd welcomed him as he presented “Evolution of Heart Surgery in the 20th Century and Beyond” and participants were pleased by the opportunity to ask questions afterward.
Dr. Attai, who was present for the lecture, is professor of surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has been a member of the faculty for more than 40 years. Montefiore was founded in 1884 by leaders of New York’s Jewish community, initially focusing on care of patients with tuberculosis and other chronic illnesses. Over the decades, it has developed a strong reputation for cardiovascular care as well.
Following his presentation, Dr. Cooley joined the faculty, house staff, and students as visiting professor at the College of Medicine.
Dr. Cooley is Surgeon-in-Chief and President Emeritus of Texas Heart Institute.
