The Heart Exchange exists for the benefit of heart transplant patients. Its members include heart transplant recipients, those in need of transplants, families, friends, and nurses. The Heart Exchange sponsors two “Donor Awareness” functions every year— one at a Houston Astros baseball game and another at a Houston Aeros hockey game.
The Heart Exchange also presents the annual Heart Exchange Golf Classic Tournament. Proceeds from this event are used to help provide housing and medicines for heart transplant recipients, to educate SLEH nurses, and to support heart transplant research at the Texas Heart Institute.
