Computer Graphics
The computer graphics section of Visual Communication Services (VCS) offers the following services.
File conversion
VCS can create Acrobat documents and convert most digital files into an alternate format. File formats include, but are not limited to, PDF (Acrobat), PSD, TIFF, EPS, JPEG and WMF.
Graphics for publication
VCS can properly prepare graphs, charts, and digital images for publication. We can prepare electronic files for submission as well as provide high-resolution prints. If you are preparing your own digital images, please read How to Prepare Digital Images for Publication before submitting them to VCS or a publisher.
Poster production
VCS offers full-service production, editing and printing of large-format posters for scientific sessions. Our Guidelines for Poster Production provides detailed instructions on submitting materials to VCS for poster production.
PowerPoint presentations
VCS can create on-screen PowerPoint presentations that include text, graphs, charts, tables, digital images, and/or digital video. Download: Tips for Creating Effective Slide Presentations
Scanning
VCS can scan line art, photographs, slides, negatives, and X-rays to create digital files that are appropriate for either publication or presentation. Supported output includes native digital files, PowerPoint files, digital prints, and/or overhead transparencies.
Slide and digital imaging
VCS can create 35-mm slides from PowerPoint presentations and native digital files. PowerPoint users, representatives of the Texas Heart Institute, including professional staff and employees, should read Using the THI Template in PowerPoint before creating a presentation.
Transparencies
VCS can create overhead transparencies from a variety of file types. Please contact us for more information.
